Governor Makinde mourns wife of Ibadan traditional ruler

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed condolences over the death of Olori Basirat Ajibola, wife of the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola.

According to The PUNCH, the governor described her passing as a painful loss to the traditional institution, Ibadanland and Oyo State.

Makinde conveyed his condolences in a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

The governor extended his sympathies to Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, members of the royal family and the wider Ibadan community.

He acknowledged the late Olori’s contributions to community development and her support for the traditional institution.

Makinde pays tribute to late Olori

The governor described Olori Basirat as a woman remembered for her humility and commitment to service.

She also held the traditional title of Aare Onibon Iyalode of Ibadanland.

“Her passing is a painful loss, and we pray that the Almighty grants His Majesty and other members of the family the strength and comfort needed at this difficult time,” Makinde said.

He maintained that her contributions and service to the community would remain important parts of her legacy.

The governor also reaffirmed the state government’s support for the family and the traditional institution during the mourning period.

Makinde prayed for the repose of her soul and encouraged those affected by her passing to find comfort.

The death represents a loss to the royal household and the wider Ibadan traditional community.
