The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed several establishments across Agege and Mushin over persistent violations of environmental regulations. Notably, these cases highlight the ongoing challenge of LASEPA noise pollution in these areas.

According to LASEPA, the enforcement exercise was carried out on Tuesday after the affected facilities allegedly failed to comply with repeated warnings. Furthermore, abatement notices and opportunities were given to correct the identified violations of LASEPA noise pollution guidelines.

The agency said the action was in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive to enforce environmental laws and protect public health. It also aimed to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for residents by reducing the impact of LASEPA noise pollution.

Mosque, churches sealed in Mushin

Among the affected facilities in Mushin was Akorohunfayo Central Mosque on Akorohunfayo Street, Fadeyi. LASEPA said it was sealed for noise pollution.

Holy Temple of Christ on Ayetoro Street, behind NIPCO Filling Station in Mushin, was also shut over alleged noise pollution.

Christ Covenant Gospel Church, Western District, located along Ikorodu Road in Fadeyi, was similarly sealed for noise-related violations.

Christ Apostolic Church, Oye Iyanu, on Mushin Road, Church Bus Stop, Itire, was also affected by the enforcement exercise. This action was taken for noise pollution. In summary, the growing attention to LASEPA noise pollution reflects the seriousness of the enforcement measures.

LASEPA cites repeated non-compliance

The environmental agency said the affected establishments had been found to have contravened various environmental regulations. In addition, they failed to implement corrective measures previously issued to them.

It maintained that the enforcement came only after repeated warnings and opportunities for the facilities to comply with the state’s environmental requirements.

Lagos intensifies environmental enforcement

LASEPA said the exercise forms part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen compliance with environmental regulations across Lagos.

The agency maintained that protecting residents from environmental nuisances remains a priority. Therefore, it warned operators of facilities across the state to comply with regulations rather than wait for enforcement action.
