Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called for massive Osun voter turnout during the August 15 governorship election, describing voting as an important responsibility in sustaining democracy.

According to Vanguard, Adeleke made the appeal on Thursday while inaugurating the newly completed Oke-Fia Flyover in Osogbo, the state capital.

The governor encouraged eligible residents to participate peacefully and ensure that their votes count during the election.

He thanked the people of Osun for supporting his administration and said their encouragement had helped the government complete several development projects.

“I thank the good people of Osun State for standing by this administration,” Adeleke said.

“Your support has encouraged us to deliver projects that are transforming our state.”

The governor asked residents to turn out in large numbers on election day and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise.

“I urge you to come out in large numbers on election day and vote peacefully,” he added.

Adeleke promises more projects

Adeleke, who is seeking another term, assured residents that his administration would deliver more infrastructure and people-focused programmes if re-elected.

“If given another opportunity, we will do even more for our people,” he said.

The governor presented the new flyover as part of his administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and ease movement within Osogbo.

The project is expected to reduce traffic congestion around Oke-Fia, one of the busy areas of the state capital.

Adeleke said his government would continue implementing projects designed to improve transportation and stimulate economic activity across Osun.

Monarch praises Oke-Fia Flyover

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, commended the state government for completing the project.

The monarch was represented at the event by the Asiwaju of Osogboland and retired judge, Justice Moshood Adeigbe.

Adeigbe described the flyover as a significant addition to the infrastructure of Osogbo.

“We appreciate Governor Adeleke for this magnificent edifice,” he said.

“Osogbo has witnessed significant infrastructural development under this administration, and this project is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people.”

He said the flyover would improve traffic flow while also enhancing the appearance of the state capital.

Adeleke pushes Osun voter turnout

The governor’s appeal comes as political parties and candidates intensify mobilisation ahead of the governorship election.

Adeleke urged residents to regard voting as more than a political activity, stressing that participation gives citizens an opportunity to determine the direction of their state.

He also advised supporters and other eligible voters to avoid violence and respect the rules guiding the election.

The inauguration attracted government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, party supporters and residents.

Several attendees described the Oke-Fia Flyover as one of the major projects completed by the Adeleke administration ahead of the election.
