The Bauchi State Police Command has ordered a full-scale investigation into the alleged killing of a 20-year-old man by police personnel attached to a police outpost under the Misau Division in Misau Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement made available on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the command’s attention was drawn to reports circulating on social media alleging that operatives at the police outpost assaulted a young man while interrogating him in connection with a case under investigation.
The police identified the deceased as Abdullahi Adamu, 20, of Sebore Village, Hardawa District.
Habib said the victim was initially admitted to the Federal Medical Centre, Misau, before being referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he died on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while receiving treatment.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, had expressed concern over the allegation, stressing that the command remained committed to professionalism, respect for human rights and due process.
“In line with this, the Commissioner has immediately ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement read.
“The Command is committed to ensuring that justice is served and that appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against any personnel found culpable in accordance with the provisions of the law.”
The command also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.
It appealed to members of the public with useful information that could assist the investigation to come forward and cooperate with the police.
