The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged child exploitation case following the arrest of a suspect during an operation in the Idumota area of Lagos Island.
According to an Instagram post by guardiannigeria, the operation was led by Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh and resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Princess Andrew.
Police said the suspect is being investigated over allegations of recruiting underage girls for unlawful activities.
Speaking during the operation, a police officer said authorities discovered a building allegedly linked to the case and subsequently took the suspect into custody for questioning.
“We have found a place that was being used for prostitution, and we have brought the suspect to the station for investigation,” the officer said.
The police disclosed that the investigation was initiated after a young girl was rescued and provided information to authorities.
“The victim said she was recruited into prostitution and was picked up by the suspect,” the officer added.
According to the police, the girl was taken for medical attention following her rescue and is currently in stable condition.
“She was taken to the hospital for treatment, and she is now stable,” the officer said.
The Lagos State Police Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case and identify any other individuals who may be connected to the matter.
Authorities also reiterated their commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and ensuring that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
