Dunamis International Gospel Centre has denied reports linking it to a private aircraft that recently made an emergency landing on a road in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, as investigations into the incident continue.
According to Vanguard, the church, through the Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF), dismissed claims that the aircraft with registration number N989BC belongs to the ministry.
In a statement issued on Friday, the group described the report as false and misleading, insisting that Dunamis has never claimed ownership of any private aircraft.
The Convener of CCYF, James Adama, said the allegations were fabricated and intended to damage the reputation of the church.
“We further state clearly and unequivocally that the assertion is a fabrication and underscores the reckless misinformation being deliberately spread to mislead the public,” Adama said.
He warned media organisations, bloggers and members of the public against publishing unverified information, noting that the church reserves the right to pursue legal action against individuals or organisations found to be spreading false claims.
A source within the church also rejected the ownership claim, stating that Dunamis International Gospel Centre does not own the aircraft in question.
“The church has never announced ownership of any aircraft. It is a lie. It is not registered in the name of Dunamis,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has recovered the Cockpit Voice Recorder and Flight Data Recorder from the aircraft as part of its ongoing investigation into the incident.
The bureau said the investigation would include an analysis of the recovered recorders, examination of technical and operational records, and interviews with relevant parties.
Industry experts have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation remains ongoing, stressing that conclusions should only be drawn after the safety agency completes its findings.
