United States President Donald Trump remains in excellent health but has been advised to lose weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle, according to a medical report released on Friday.
According to AFP, Trump’s physician, US Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, made the assessment after the 79 year old president underwent a routine medical examination at Walter Reed Medical Center near Washington.
“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” Barbabella stated in a three page medical memo.
The doctor, however, said preventive counselling was provided, including advice on diet, increased physical activity, continued weight loss, and the use of low dose aspirin for cardiovascular health.
Barbabella concluded that Trump was “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander in Chief and Head of State.”
The report revealed that Trump currently takes three medications, two for cholesterol management and one aspirin tablet for cardiac prevention.
Standing at six feet three inches tall, Trump reportedly weighs 238 pounds (108 kilograms), an increase from the 224 pounds recorded during his previous annual medical examination.
The health assessment comes amid public speculation over the president’s condition, including concerns raised about bruising on his hands and instances in which he appeared sleepy during meetings.
Addressing the issue, the medical report stated that examination of Trump’s hands showed bruising consistent with minor soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshaking while taking aspirin.
“Examination of the dorsal hands revealed ecchymosis (bruising), consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the setting of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention,” the memo said.
Reacting to the outcome of the examination, Trump described the medical check as having gone “perfectly” in a post shared on his Truth Social platform.
