Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, have called on Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu and support his Renewed Hope Agenda for national development.
The two leaders made the appeal in separate interviews with journalists shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Okene Central praying ground in Kogi State.
Governor Ododo said the Eid-el-Kabir celebration teaches sacrifice, peace, love, and care for others, urging residents to remember the needy and pray for the country’s leaders.
“Eid-el-Kabir teaches sacrifice, love, peace and care. I urge my people, the good people of Kogi State, to support the needy and pray for our nation. Let us pray for Mr President and all our leaders for wisdom and divine guidance,” he said.
The governor also assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise security across the state.
“Security is a continuous task and I want to assure you that we will not relent. I commend Mr President, security agencies and the good people of Kogi State for their support and credible intelligence they are providing at all times,” Ododo added.
Speaking on efforts to improve the image of the state, the governor said Kogi possesses enormous potential in agriculture, mineral resources, culture, and tourism, stressing that residents must project the state positively to attract development and investors.
Former governor Yahaya Bello also called for cooperation and support for President Tinubu, saying national development requires patience and collective effort.
“We must all come together to give Mr President the needed support for the Renewed Hope Agenda to succeed. A great nation is achieved not just in a twinkle of an eye. It is a marathon and it takes a courageous leader to engage and embark on that marathon,” Bello said.
He also praised Governor Ododo’s administration, describing it as a continuation of progress and consolidation in Kogi State.
Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, is one of the most significant festivals in Islam and commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
