Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has sacked Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, with immediate effect.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday.
He explained that the decision was part of a minor adjustment in the composition of the State Executive Council.
“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab-Baban Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect. The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the State and wishes her success in her future endeavours,” the statement read.
The removal comes barely days after the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission dismissed two senior government officials for forgery.
According to a statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Saleh Umar, the officials were sacked for offences that violated the State Public Service Rule 0327 (ii, iii, and vi), which deal with forgery and falsification of official documents.
Earlier on September 11, the commission had also dismissed an education officer for gross misconduct bordering on sexual harassment.
