Actor Michael Ejoor has opened up about his long struggle with depression, revealing that as a child he believed everyone around him hated him — including his own father.
In an interview with Jay On Air, Ejoor shared that he was diagnosed with clinical depression 14 years ago and, during that period, attempted to take his own life several times.
One of the most harrowing incidents, he recalled, was when he tried to walk in front of a moving car in the UK.
Speaking about his early years, the actor said he often felt deeply isolated and unloved.
“Growing up, I was secluded. I thought everybody hated me. I even thought my dad hated me. I didn’t think anybody liked me. I didn’t think anything was going well for me,” he said.
Ejoor added that the weight of depression made him live without plans or hope, struggling to imagine a future for himself.
Despite those dark times, he noted that his relationship with his father has since transformed, and they are now very close.
