Celebrity barman and nightlife entrepreneur, Cubana Chief Priest, has opened up about his childhood, his late mother’s aspirations for him, and the profound impact her passing had on his life and career.

In an emotional Instagram post, he shared that his mother endured over six years of childlessness before giving birth to his older brother, whom she named Onyinyechukwu — meaning “Gift from God.” Just over a year later, she had him under challenging circumstances and named him Chibuike, meaning “God is my strength.”

“Growing up, my mom wanted me to be a Catholic priest so bad because she promised God that her child will serve God while she searched for the fruit of the womb for over 6 years,” he wrote.

Cubana Chief Priest recounted how he made efforts to gain admission into the seminary but was unable to continue along the path of priesthood. According to him, this remains a source of lingering guilt.

“I did my best to gain admission to the seminary. But I couldn’t make it to Catholic priesthood because many are called but few are chosen,” he wrote. “Next year will make it 10 years I lost my mom, and everyone who really knows my real story will testify that after my mom made it to heaven, my story changed for good.”

He admitted that while he sometimes feels he let his mother down by not becoming a priest — a dream she held dearly — he believes he is still fulfilling his divine purpose in his own way.

“Every day I live with the guilt that I disappointed my mama by not becoming a Catholic priest, she wanted to be called Mama Father but rather I became the ChiefPriest. But fact remains that I’m still doing God’s work,” he said.

To honour her memory and express gratitude for the blessings in his life, Cubana Chief Priest revealed that he has recorded a Catholic thanksgiving song. The track, produced by Masterkraft and featuring rapper Zoro, will be released soon.

“I had to do this thanksgiving Catholic Christian song to honor my late mom and also thank God for the numerous blessings that have come my way. I have it all from family to fame, friends, connect, wealth, music etc. Indeed there is joy in my heart and it’s flowing like a river,” he wrote.

He concluded the post by promising to drop the track after hitting a milestone of 1,000 comments.
