Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is in mourning after announcing the death of his son.

The 54-year-old made the heartbreaking news public on Saturday through an Instagram post, where he shared a photo of the boy with an emotional caption.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ,” Chatta wrote.

He gave no details about the cause of death but his post quickly drew an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and fans, who filled the comment section with prayers and words of comfort.

The loss comes only weeks after Chatta opened up about a painful tragedy from his past. In June, he recalled how his first child, a daughter, died years ago because he could not afford medical care.

“My first child is not Malik. The first child I had died. She was buried in a crate of Coke, the old wooden crate of Coke,” he revealed at the time, describing how poverty denied him the chance to save her.

This latest tragedy has deepened the grief in the Nollywood industry, which is still reeling from the recent death of actress Peju Ogunmola’s only son, Ayomikun, in Ibadan.

Chatta, who is father to three surviving children, has often spoken about how the death of his daughter shaped his love for them, especially his only daughter, Awawu, whom he described as “very close” to his heart.
