Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has secured a loan move to German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen after completing his medical and final paperwork on Monday.

The 24-year-old forward, who joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2023, will remain at Bremen until June 2026, with part of his salary to be paid by Leverkusen.

Boniface was a key part of Leverkusen’s title-winning squad last season, earning praise for his strength, sharp link-up play, and consistent goal-scoring.

His move to Bremen comes just days after a proposed transfer to Italian giants AC Milan collapsed. Sources revealed that the Rossoneri pulled out due to concerns over his history of knee problems.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on Monday, posting, “Victor Boniface has just completed his medical tests at Werder Bremen.”

Boniface recently returned to training with Leverkusen but was left out of the squad during their 3-3 draw against Bremen over the weekend, fueling speculation of a potential exit.

The striker, who also missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to a muscle injury, is expected to bring added firepower to Bremen’s attack as they continue their push in the Bundesliga.
