A 34-year-old petrol attendant, Alaba Samson, has been charged before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1.78 million from his employer.

The police said the incident happened between August 1 and August 2, 2025, at Jamfad Filing Station, Torikoh, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that Samson conspired with others to steal the money belonging to the station’s owner, identified as Falade James.

“The defendant stole N1,781,500 on two different occasions at the filing station, property of one Falade James, the complainant. He was arrested in his home and handed over to the police for prosecution,” Ekpo said.

The offence, according to the police, is in violation of Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Samson, whose residential address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in the same amount.

He added that one of the sureties must be self-employed, and adjourned the case until September 24, 2025, for mention.
