Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has advised residents to be watchful and security conscious as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

The governor gave this advice in his Sallah message, which was released on Thursday night through his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

Makinde congratulated Muslims in Oyo State and around the world for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration and used the opportunity to thank the Muslim community for their continued support, prayers, and sacrifices toward the growth of the state.

He called on Muslims to use the celebration period to pray for the state, Nigeria, and all leaders.

“I want to congratulate my Muslim brothers and sisters in Oyo State and across the world on witnessing the Eid-el-Kabir 2025,” Makinde said.

“Again, I urge all Muslims and all residents of the state to be watchful and alert during the festivities, as security is a responsibility for everyone. If anyone sees something, they should say something and the government will do something.”

Governor Makinde’s message comes at a time when many Nigerians are travelling and gathering for Sallah celebrations. He reminded the public that safety should not be left for security agencies alone.

The governor also wished the people of Oyo State a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration.
