Court workers across Nigeria will resume duties on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, after the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria suspended its nationwide strike.

The union announced the decision in a statement signed by its National Vice President and 10 other leaders from various JUSUN chapters after a meeting with representatives of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.

The strike, which had disrupted court activities for weeks, was suspended following several talks with key stakeholders, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, and officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

In the communique released on Tuesday, the union said they agreed to end the strike to allow time for further talks with the Federal Government on their demands.

Part of the deal includes ensuring that funds are released to the judiciary within a month. JUSUN also wants the implementation of the new N70,000 minimum wage, a 25/35 percent salary increase, and five months’ worth of wage awards and arrears.

The statement added, “Upon the release of the funds to the Judiciary, the demands by JUSUN—including the N70,000 new minimum wage and its arrears, 25/35 percent salary increase, and the five-month wage award—will be implemented immediately.”

The communique was also signed by leaders of the JUSUN chapters at the Federal Judicial Service Commission, Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, National Industrial Court, National Judicial Institute, FCT High Court, FCT Sharia and Customary Courts, and the FCT Judicial Service Commission.
