Singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has strongly criticized fellow entertainer Speed Darlington following the latter’s controversial claim of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Speed Darlington stirred public outrage earlier this week after a video surfaced online showing him making the claim.

The footage, which quickly went viral, sparked widespread condemnation and prompted the intervention of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, which has since referred the case to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.

Reacting in a series of Instagram posts, Portable did not hold back in his condemnation of Darlington, labeling him a disgrace to the Igbo ethnic group.

He said, “Speed Darlington is a disgrace to Igbo. He is the first lazy Igbo man I have seen. He is the first Igbo man I know that rapes.”

He continued, “Igbo men pay before having an intimate relationship with you. He is raping a 15 year old that’s seeking admission when I’m here looking for billions. You don’t have a career.

“Igbos are not lazy, they are don’t rape. They are the ones who lavish on women. You are the lazy one among the Igbo.”

Although Speed Darlington later claimed that the statement was fictional and meant as promotional content, Portable rejected that explanation. He insisted that being a musician or content creator does not justify such behavior.

“You said it’s content, for promotion, are you the only musician? I’m a content creator too. If you want to trend, there is a way to go about it, you have to have an issue and money,” he said.

“Do you want to tell me you went to rape and confess because you want to trend? Trend by grace, not by disgrace.”

NAPTIP has since invited Speed Darlington for questioning at its headquarters as part of its ongoing review of the case.
