Nollywood actor and Lagos State lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, has revealed that his entry into politics was facilitated by former Edo State Governor and current senator, Adams Oshiomhole.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Elliot shared how Oshiomhole personally introduced him to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking the beginning of his political journey.
“One day, Oshiomhole took me to Asiwaju and said, ‘This is my son, and he is interested in politics.’ Asiwaju saw me, said he knows me and he just liked me, still surprised,” Elliot recounted.
The actor-turned-politician currently serves as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere Constituency 1.
His revelation highlights the influential role political mentors play in shaping the careers of emerging politicians in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Desmond Elliot is best known for his extensive work in Nollywood, where he gained fame as an actor, director, and producer. With a film career spanning over two decades, he became one of the most prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry, starring in more than 200 films and television shows.
In 2015, he transitioned into politics and was elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere Constituency 1. Since then, he has been re-elected and continues to serve as a legislator.
