American football star Jonathan Owens and his wife, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala, stepping onto the midnight-blue carpet in outfits inspired by African culture and the event’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Owens, who plays safety for the Chicago Bears, wore a white hand-woven aso-oke tuxedo jacket decorated with glass beads.
His full look included a double-breasted waistcoat, flared trousers, and a stylish fur stole. The outfit was designed by Nigerian fashion duo Deji & Kola and styled by Marc Desir. Owens also carried a glittering walking stick and wore a shiny Margot McKinney pendant.
“I just wanted to dress like royalty,” Owens told E! News. “Whenever I know my wife’s in the stands, I just play a little bit better. She’s the extra motivating factor for me.”
Simone Biles perfectly matched his energy in a royal-blue gown with a sharp white collar and a dramatic cathedral train. Her dress, by Harbison Studio, was styled by Jessica Paster and completed with diamond jewelry from Zales. Makeup artist Ashley Stewart used Benefit Cosmetics to give her a glowing, regal look.
“I was pretty much the canvas,” Biles said. “Once the designer finished, I thought, ‘OK, we’re coming in hot!’”
The couple, who got married in 2023, were also part of the 2025 Met Gala’s hosting committee. Speaking to E!’s Zuri Hall at the event, Biles said, “I feel like every day we fall more and more in love with each other. Doing things like this is so much fun. We cherish every moment.”
The couple’s outfits paid tribute to Black fashion history, mixing culture with luxury, and many fashion watchers called them one of the best-dressed pairs of the night.
