The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a social media content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, for allegedly abusing the naira in a viral video.

According to a statement by the EFCC on Monday, Sa’ad was picked up by operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate after he posted a video on TikTok and Instagram showing himself spraying naira notes and stepping on them.

In the video, the young man also dared EFCC officers to arrest him, speaking in Hausa language.

The EFCC said, “Sa’ad made a video of himself on his TikTok and Instagram accounts (@youngcee0066), where he was seen throwing naira notes on the floor, deliberately stepping on them, and daring EFCC officers in Hausa language to arrest him if they could.”

The agency said he was tracked and arrested in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State and taken to the EFCC’s office for questioning.

It added, “He was subsequently picked up through surveillance and conveyed to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Commission for interrogation.”

The EFCC said that Sa’ad will be charged to court after the investigation is completed.

The Commission has in recent times warned against abuse of the naira, especially at parties and on social media, saying such acts are illegal and punishable under Nigerian law.
