Nigerian music stars Seun Kuti and Rema thrilled fans at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California with energetic and culture-rich performances.

Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, performed on Friday alongside the famous Egypt 80 band. He opened the show with Everything Scatter, a song originally performed by his father.

“This song is called Everything Scatter, written by my father,” Seun told the crowd. “I start my shows like this with one of my father’s songs as a sign of respect to the man you see.”

His performance was full of rhythm, powerful messages, and Afrobeat energy. Seun also made history as the first Nigerian to ever perform at Coachella back in 2012. This year marks his third time at the festival, the most appearances by any Nigerian artist at the global event.

On Sunday, afrobeats star Rema joined the Coachella stage for the first time. However, his set was cut short due to a very late arrival. Despite that, he gave a fast-paced and exciting show, performing hit songs like Calm Down and Bout U.

Though short, Rema’s performance was well-received by fans, who danced and sang along.

Nigerian acts continue to shine on the Coachella stage. In previous years, stars like Burna Boy, CKay, Spinall, Fireboy, and Tems have all performed. In 2024, Tems wowed the crowd when she brought out Wizkid and Justin Bieber to perform their global hit Essence.
