The Kogi State government has dismissed claims by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan that there was a plot to assassinate her.
Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that the state government planned to have her killed during a homecoming rally in her hometown, Okehi Local Government Area, on Tuesday. She said she had already reported the matter to the police.
“The second thing he said was that he should try and kill me. I didn’t make this public, but I have written to the IG of Police,” she stated.
She further alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio advised former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello to ensure that any attempt on her life did not take place in Abuja but rather in Kogi, so it would seem like an attack by the people.
However, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, denied the allegations.
“The governor (Ododo) and the senate president never discussed anything that has to do with the suspended senator (Natasha) of Kogi Central,” Fanwo said in an interview with Channels TV.
He added, “There was no conversation to recall her, and there was no conversation to assassinate her.”
