The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government, congratulating the Muslim community on the successful conclusion of Ramadan.

The minister said Ramadan is a period for self-discipline, compassion, and peace, urging Muslims to embody these values even as they celebrate the holy occasion.

In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on all Nigerians to use this time for prayers and reflection on the nation’s peace and prosperity, which are central to unity across religious and ethnic divides during this festive occasion.

He encouraged safe and responsible celebrations, reminding citizens to “extend kindness to the less privileged in line with the spirit of Ramadan and Eid.”

The Minister concluded by wishing all Muslim faithful a heartfelt Eid Mubarak and prays for blessings and happiness for all during the season.
