Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission from removing Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Anyanwu had asked the court to prevent INEC from accepting any documents from the PDP unless they were signed by him. He also wanted the court to stop Ambassador Umar Damagun from sending any documents to INEC without his signature.

However, Justice Ekwo said he would not grant this request without first hearing from INEC and Damagun.

The judge stated, “I will not issue an order through an ex-parte application. I need to hear from the defendants first.”

He then ordered Anyanwu to inform INEC and Damagun about the case so they can come to court and present their sides.

Justice Ekwo also directed Anyanwu to serve the court papers on INEC and Damagun and set February 24 for the hearing.
