Two students from Borno State University lost their lives in a tragic accident on Wednesday involving the university’s staff bus and a truck on Njimtilo Road.
According to the Borno State Police Command, three other students are in critical condition, while 23 suffered varying degrees of injuries. The university bus was reportedly carrying 30 students when it collided with the truck.
The state police spokesperson, Nahum Kenneth, confirmed that the crash also left three students in critical condition.
Kenneth stated, “A male and a female student lost their lives, while three others are currently unconscious at the hospital. Around 20 students are being treated for various injuries, while some escaped unhurt.”
The injured were rushed to Umaru Shehu Specialist Hospital for treatment. Emergency responders acted swiftly to evacuate the victims and manage the scene. The crash caused significant damage to the bus.
Efforts are ongoing to ensure proper care for the injured students, while investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
