Following the social media uproar surrounding Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center, the church has issued a statement addressing recent allegations of fraud and money laundering.
In a press release shared via its Instagram page on Wednesday, the church confirmed that Pastor Bolaji was invited to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The invitation, however, was in connection with an investigation into allegations against a member of the church, not the pastor himself.
The statement reads:
“We have been made aware of media reports regarding our Lead Senior Pastor, Pastor Bolaji Idowu. For the record:
1. Our Lead Pastor was invited by the Nigerian Police Force, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja to provide clarification in an ongoing investigation into allegations against a member of the Church.
2. Our Lead Pastor, as a law-abiding citizen and a responsible leader, honoured the invitation of the police, and provided necessary clarifications to aid the police in their investigations into the matter, as it concerns the Church.
“Whilst Pastor Bolaji Idowu would continue to cooperate with the police in its ongoing investigations, we urge the general public to disregard all inaccurate reports being circulated in the media.”
In response to the allegations, Pastor Bolaji personally addressed the rumors circulating on social media.
He categorically denied involvement in real estate transactions, stating:
“I do not have any property in Nigeria apart from the one bequeathed to me by my late parents. I am not in the business of buying or selling properties.”
He also refuted claims of receiving large financial transfers, including billions of naira.
“Someone said I received billions into my account. My account is public; anyone can check if I have ever received such amounts. I did not,” he emphasized.
Pastor Idowu, who founded HICC in December 2003, has been instrumental in growing the church into a global ministry with branches in Nigeria, the UK, and the US. HICC currently serves over 70,000 worshippers through both in-person and online services.
His widely followed Next Level Prayers platform, which focuses on deepening spiritual connection through prayer, has gained significant international acclaim.
