The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as KAI, has demolished 138 illegal shanties around the Ajao Estate Canal.

The exercise, which took place on Thursday, was part of efforts to address environmental violations and remove illegal structures in public spaces.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the demolished shanties were rented out for amounts ranging from N60,000 to N100,000 annually.

“In continuation of concerted measures to reduce the scourge of environmental infractions and illegal encampment in public spaces, the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps demolished 138 shanties around the canal bank in Ajao Estate,” Wahab said in a statement shared on social media.
