A businessman was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in the Alor community, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, late on Sunday evening.

According to the PUNCH, the victim, a middle-aged man, was driving home from an event when the attackers intercepted his car near Ezeani Primary School.

Eyewitnesses say the incident happened around 6:47 p.m. According to a local source, “The man was in a Toyota Corolla with the plate number EKY-102GK when the kidnappers blocked his path, shattered his windscreen, and hit him on the head with a gun before bundling him into their own car’s trunk.”

Another witness described the scene, saying, “It was like a commando movie. People nearby quickly hid and watched from a distance. The man’s car was left behind, covered in blood stains.” Video footage of the abandoned car, now circulating on social media, shows the vehicle left by the roadside after the abduction.

Anambra State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident on Monday. “The Command has started an investigation into the abandoned car found in Alor Community. Initial information shows that the victim was taken by unidentified persons,” Ikenga stated.
