Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two teenage students for allegedly stealing 100 mobile phones from a shop in Wunti Market, Bauchi.
The suspects, both 15-year-olds, are students of Bakari Dukku Comprehensive Secondary School.
The police say the students, Hamza Sadiq and Adamu Ahmadu, were involved in the theft of mobile phones, MP4 players, batteries, memory cards, and a Bluetooth headset from a phone shop. They reportedly used the shop’s key while the owner was absent to repeatedly steal items during the day.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, said, “They sold the stolen goods at reduced prices and used the money to buy personal items like clothes, food, and a smartphone.” Wakil also mentioned that the Police had recovered 21 mobile phones, 5 MP4 players, a phone charger, and a key from the suspects, while efforts to recover the remaining items are ongoing.
The Police revealed that the two boys will be sent to a rehabilitation facility once the investigation is complete.
