The Nigerian Army has started an investigation into allegations that a Brigade Commander in Kano State misused supplies meant for soldiers.
This investigation follows reports about Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, the former Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano, who is accused of diverting rice and selling government property illegally.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed the investigation on Wednesday. He stated, “Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq is currently undergoing military investigation over administrative discrepancies while he was in charge of the 3 Brigade.”
The statement did not confirm whether General Sadiq is in detention but mentioned that he has been removed from his command position to allow for a complete investigation of the claims against him.
“The Nigerian Army is a self-regulating institution based on discipline, justice, and accountability,” Major General Nwachukwu added. “We have zero tolerance for indiscipline and will not accept any misconduct that could harm our values and principles.”
He assured the public that the allegations will be thoroughly examined, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings. “We are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency,” he said.
Nwachukwu emphasized that “the investigation process will be fair, impartial, and in line with our established procedures.”
