A father, Kyle Fitton, has shared the pain of being separated from his baby daughter for 15 months after his ex-girlfriend, Georgina Saville, falsified a DNA test and lied on the birth certificate to claim the baby wasn’t his.
Kyle, 26, from Southampton, England said the ordeal left him “broken” and stressed.
According to Daily Mail, Saville, 25, edited the DNA test results and listed her new boyfriend, Danny Mellows, as the baby’s father instead of Kyle.
She did this in March 2022, soon after the baby was born. She later claimed she made the false statements to stop Kyle’s lawyer from contacting her. However, a court has convicted her of perverting the course of public justice and making a false declaration.
Kyle opened up about the emotional toll of the situation. He explained how hard it was to deal with the lies and waiting so long to meet his daughter. “It’s taken so long to get to this stage and to actually get to the truth,” he said. “It’s just a massive sense of relief. I have been quite upset, stressed all the time. It’s one of the hardest weeks that I have had to deal with.”
After a long legal battle, Kyle’s children are now under the guardianship of his mother, which allows him to see them every day. He shared that the best part of his day is hearing his daughters shout “daddy” when he comes home from work. “Every day it’s absolutely amazing. I took [my eldest] to her first day of school, it was just amazing. It’s just a sense of relief they are there, they are happy, and they are safe.”
Despite the emotional strain, Kyle said he never doubted that the baby was his, even when Saville tried to make him believe otherwise. “There was never any question. I knew she was mine and I had to prove this just to get the truth,” he explained.
Kyle admitted that the experience affected his mental health and made it hard for him to trust in future relationships. “It really affected me, my mental health. I couldn’t sleep. It was constant,” he said.
Looking ahead, Kyle have finally united with his daughter before her second birthday while Georgina Saville is awaiting sentencing for her actions.
