Police recover stolen vehicle, arrest suspect in Bauchi

The Plateau State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Hiace vehicle just three days after it was stolen in Jos, the state capital, and found in Bauchi State.

The Command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, announced the recovery in a statement on Thursday, revealing that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft.

“The Plateau State Police Command is pleased to announce to the general public, that a stolen Toyota Hiace Bus, which was reported missing on 16/09/2024, has been successfully recovered,” Alfred said.

He explained that once the report of the stolen vehicle was received, police officers attached to the Bukuru Division immediately launched a stop-and-search operation. This led to the recovery of the vehicle in the possession of one Kabiru Mohammed in Sabon Gari Narabi, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, on 18/09/2024 around 12:45 a.m.

“The suspect is currently in our custody providing us with useful information that will lead to further recoveries. Upon conclusion of our investigation, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution,” the statement added.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, assured the public that the safety of lives and property remains a priority for the police. He stated, “He would not condone any act that could truncate the fragile peace on the Plateau.”

The Police Commissioner also called on the public to provide timely and accurate information to assist security agencies in their operations to maintain peace and safety in Plateau State.
