Flying Officer David Sangokoya of the Nigerian Air Force has been awarded the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, United Kingdom.
The Nigerian Air Force shared the news on social media, celebrating the officer’s achievement as a proud moment for the service and the nation.
The award recognizes his outstanding performance as the Best International Cadet during the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training Course, held from March to September 2023.
The award was presented by Prince William on behalf of King Charles III during a royal graduation ceremony.
The International Sword of Honour is presented annually to the top international cadet among those who have demonstrated excellence in training.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, congratulated Sangokoya for his remarkable achievement, stating that the award “is a testament to the officer’s focus, dedication, and hard work throughout his training.”
He also acknowledged the support of Sangokoya’s family, saying their encouragement played a vital role in his success.
“NAF is proud of this accomplishment, which shines a positive light on both the Service and the nation at large,” Air Marshal Abubakar added.
