The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has clarified that it has no involvement in the admission process for Higher National Diploma students.

This statement follows recent accusations from some HND students who claimed that JAMB was responsible for their inability to participate in the National Youth Service Corps program.

The students alleged that they were not mobilized for NYSC because they had completed a part-time National Diploma program.

However, the JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, firmly stated that the board has no authority or control over HND admissions and is not responsible for managing any other higher education programs beyond regular undergraduate admissions.

“JAMB’s mandate, as established by law, is solely focused on determining matriculation requirements and conducting examinations for undergraduate admissions, National Diploma, and Nigerian Certificate in Education courses. The board has no role in the admission processes for HND or any postgraduate courses,” Benjamin explained.

This clarification comes after JAMB issued a 30-day ultimatum in August, directing institutions to declare all admissions conducted outside its processing system, underscoring the board’s commitment to transparency in the admission process.
