The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has identified the body of a crossdresser discovered on the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway in Abuja as Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, a 33-year-old man from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the identity of the deceased and provided details about the ongoing investigation.

“Following a case of culpable homicide and the discovery of an unidentified male corpse, initially mistaken for a female, on August 8, 2024, the FCT Command has launched a discreet investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh,” the statement read.

Preliminary findings revealed that the deceased, Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, was a resident of the Dapé area in Karmo, Abuja. The police assured the public that further updates on the investigation would be provided as the case progresses.

Earlier reports indicated that the body, dressed in women’s clothing, was found on August 8 and was initially mistaken for a female.

The deceased was confirmed dead at the hospital, with no immediate means of identification.

It is believed that Benedict, who was known by the tag “Abuja Area Mama,” was attacked on the night of August 7, with his body later being dumped along the Banex, Wuse II area of the FCT. He was also reported to have held a live session on TikTok just hours before his tragic death.

The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
