The Lagos State Rescue and Fire Service has successfully rescued two men from an underground solid tank at a Conoil Filling Station on Capitol Road in the Agege area of Lagos State.
According to a statement from the agency, a distress call was received at approximately 3:15 PM regarding an emergency at the filling station.
The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, explained that a 45-year-old man became trapped in the underground tank while attempting to drain water. During the rescue operation, one of the rescue team members also became temporarily trapped.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 45-year-old man had become trapped while attempting to drain water from an underground solid tank,” Adeseye said. The rescue team from the Agege station arrived at the scene by 3:29 PM.
“The situation was swiftly brought under control by the Agege rescue team with critical support from LASAMBUS, the Ikeja Rescue team, the Alausa team, and the Nigeria Police,” Adeseye added.
Both the initial victim and the rescuer were successfully freed and transported to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for prompt medical attention. “Both individuals are currently responding well to treatment,” Adeseye confirmed.
Adeseye praised the swift and professional response of all emergency personnel involved, noting that their efforts ensured both men were rescued alive and received timely medical care.
