One of the victims of a sword attack on the Hainault community in London on Tuesday has been identified as 14-year-old Nigerian, Daniel Anjorin
Daniel, a student at Bancroft’s School, succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack, which also left four others injured, including two police officers.
The assailant, a 36-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
Describing Daniel as a “true scholar” with a “positive nature and gentle character,” Bancroft’s School mourned the loss of the teenager, emphasizing his significant role in the school community.
In a letter to parents, the school’s head expressed disbelief at the tragedy and urged support for Daniel’s family during this difficult time.
The attack unfolded when the suspect crashed his van into a property in Laing Close, injuring a 33-year-old man. Subsequently, two others were attacked, one suffering a neck wound and another a cut on the arm. Despite the swift response of law enforcement, Daniel succumbed to his injuries shortly after reaching the hospital.
The tragic incident also struck close to home for the community, as Daniel’s mother, Mrs. Anjorin, works at Holy Family Catholic School. The school extended condolences to the family, urging prayers for their comfort and healing.
As the community grapples with grief, friends and neighbors remember Daniel as a vibrant and beloved young man. Janti Charalambous, a family friend, described him as “an amazing young man” who brought joy to his family and community.
Flowers and tributes at the scene of the attack serve as poignant reminders of the tragedy that befell Daniel and the community.
