Naira abuse: NCoS to house Bobrisky in male cell
Celebrity transgender, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Lagos for Naira mutilation.
In response, the Nigerian Correctional Service has announced plans to incarcerate Bobrisky in the male section of its custodial facility.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court handed down the sentence following Bobrisky’s conviction for Naira abuse.
“Since he admitted to being a male in court, then we have to abide by what was submitted in court,” stated a spokesperson for the correctional service in Lagos.
Despite concerns over Bobrisky’s safety due to his gender identity, NCoS officials have assured the public that measures will be taken to protect him from potential harm.
“He shouldn’t be afraid of sexual assault from other male inmates because our men can give him protection,” the spokesperson reassured, addressing concerns about his vulnerability.
Bobrisky’s social media presence, particularly on Instagram, where he has openly discussed his gender transition, continues to attract attention. With over five million followers, Bobrisky has shared updates on his journey, expressing satisfaction with his transition.
“My journey transitioning into a woman has been going smooth, no health issues, everything is going smooth for me,” Bobrisky recently shared in a video on Instagram.
