Crystal Palace manager stable in hospital after illness from training
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is currently stable and undergoing tests in hospital after falling ill during a training session on Thursday.
The 76-year-old’s scheduled press conference for the afternoon was canceled due to his unexpected health setback.
A statement from the club explained, “Unfortunately, today’s press conference will no longer take place as scheduled as Roy Hodgson was taken ill during this morning’s training session.”
Crystal Palace currently holds the 15th position in the Premier League, maintaining a five-point buffer above the relegation zone. They are gearing up for a crucial match against Everton, who sit third from bottom, on Monday Night Football, broadcast live on Sky Sports with kick-off at 8 pm.
Hodgson recently reached a milestone, overseeing his 200th match as Eagles manager during their 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
This season marks his second spell in charge of the south London club, having returned for the final 10 games of the previous season to replace Patrick Vieira, who was dismissed from his managerial duties.
Amidst Hodgson’s hospitalization, Sky Sport has indicated that Crystal Palace is nearing the announcement of Oliver Glasner as Hodgson’s potential replacement as manager.
