Zulum approves N358.7B 2024 Borno budget
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has officially given his assent to the 2024 appropriation bill, which amounts to N358,732,146,000.00.
This approval follows the bill’s passage by the Borno State House of Assembly and incorporates an adjustment of N18.1 billion.
The revised budget now allocates over N208.4 billion for capital expenditure, with the recurrent expenditure revised to N150.4 billion.
In a ceremony held at the council chamber of the Government House in Maiduguri on Wednesday, the speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abdulkarim Lawan, presented the adjusted appropriation bill to Governor Zulum.
During the event, Governor Zulum emphasized the need for strict compliance with the provisions of the appropriation bill by heads of agencies and members of the state executive council when submitting their memos for approval. In his words, “We have to commend the leadership of the House of Assembly; we also have to commend the maturity of the house.”
Praising the leadership and members of the Borno State House of Assembly for their efficient approval of the budget, Zulum added, “We also have to commend the maturity of the house.”
In response, the speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, acknowledged the governor’s commitment to quality projects across the state over the past five years. He explained that the upward adjustment aimed to encompass areas of critical significance to the lives of the people.
Accompanying the speaker were his deputy, Engr Abdullahi Askira, and other principal officers of the Borno State House of Assembly.
