Sani Shehu laments treasury looting at the expense of education funding
Former legislator and social commentator Senator Shehu Sani has expressed dissatisfaction with how political leaders embezzle national treasury funds.
Sani pointed out that a select few individuals in government positions are daily pilfering billions of naira, leaving the education sector to suffer.
This statement comes after allegations of financial mismanagement within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.
Recall that Wuzup Nigeriaa reported that both former minister Sadiya Umar-Farouq and the currently suspended Minister Betta Edu, have faced questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission regarding these allegations.
Sani lamented the arbitrary increase in tuition fees at public universities and polytechnics, emphasizing that such hikes occur while a small group of individuals is illicitly taking billions of naira.
In a social media post, he stated, “Everyday new revelations of Billions stolen by few individuals;and Tuition fees are callously increased in our public universities and polytechnics because “there is no money to fund public tertiary education.”
