A notable member of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has alleged that Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State did not endorse the peace agreement facilitated by President Bola Tinubu.

Despite reports indicating that Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike signed the agreement during a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Eze contends that Fubara used a black pen instead of the expected red pen, rendering the signing inconsequential.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Eze raises doubts about the authenticity of the document, claiming that all signatures were pre-signed before the meeting concluded.

He points to similarities in handwriting and questions the preparation timeline of the agreement. Additionally, Eze urges Fubara to seek broad consultation before taking any further actions.

“The document has some question mark as the whole handwritings are all same which is not possible indicating that the document was prepared before the commencement and conclusion of the meeting. Check the writing carefully in the attached document.

“All signatures were signed before Wike and Ribadu signed. Even Tony Okocha wanted to sign with the red biro,” he said.

Eze strongly criticizes the terms of the peace agreement, deeming it unconstitutional, illegal, undemocratic, and a means to temporarily appease Minister Nyesom Wike.

He argues that the agreement fails to address the root causes of the political crisis in Rivers State, specifically the alleged interference of the FCT minister in state governance and the perceived disrespect towards Governor Fubara.

“Having carefully and critically read through the truce initiated by President Tinubu to address the lingering political crisis in Rivers State, I wish to highlight that the eight point agreement is but unconstitutional, illegal, unacceptable, undemocratic, judicial abuse and a ploy to cage governance in Rivers State and buy temporary relief for Minister Nyesom Wike.

“The agreement failed woefully to address the major issues that brought up this conflict.

“Further reasons for the Rivers crisis are the criminal, draconic and dictatorial interference of the FCT minister in the governance of the State and the continued dehumanization and disrespect of Sir Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State.

Eze expresses dissatisfaction with the truce and asserts that it does not address the core concerns that triggered the political conflict in Rivers State.
