Edo 2024: Labour Party empowers grassroots leaders
The Labour Party is actively restructuring its approach to secure victory in the Edo 2024 election, according to Mr. Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary.
In an official statement from Abuja on Sunday, Ifoh disclosed that the party in Edo has initiated a robust capacity-building program targeting wards and local government executives.
This initiative, designed to fortify and reposition the party, was confirmed by Mr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of LP, during a training session.
Abure expressed optimism about LP’s potential to rescue both the nation and Edo State from inadequate governance.
“The intention of the programme is to build the capacity of our local governments and ward executives in terms of what they are expected to do during an election.
” It is intended to develop and build their capacity for the Edo 2024 governorship election.
“Labour party believes that elections are won and lost at the ward or local governments level, depending on the action and inaction of members.
“This also underscores the importance to build capacity of our local government and ward officers being trained in the trainer-workshop; they are supposed to replicate the training in their various local government and wards,” he said.
According to Abure, the Labour Party is convinced that it is uniquely positioned to address the socio-economic challenges facing the state and the nation.
He cited issues such as infrastructure decay, poverty, hunger, and unemployment as critical areas where LP’s ideology could bring about positive change.
Abure noted that Edo looks to the party to provide a candidate capable of defending votes and highlighted the main objective as winning the election with the right candidate.
“Therefore, Edo is looking up to our party to do the needful by giving them the right candidate that can defend their votes,” he stated.
In emphasizing the importance of the training, Abure revealed that similar programs would be conducted in other senatorial districts, aligning with the party’s broader strategy to position itself for victory in the 2024 elections.
