APC demands Dino Melaye’s arrest for INEC server hack
The All Progressives Congress has called for the arrest of Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State, for allegedly hacking into the back-end server of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Kingsley Fanwo, the spokesperson of the APC Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi State, made the call at a press conference on Tuesday in Lokoja.
Fanwo accused Melaye of falsely claiming access to INEC’s back-end server and demanded that he be arrested for cybercrime.
“Claiming to have access to the back-end server of INEC is like walking into the prison yard and demanding to be locked up,” Fanwo stated.
“Security agencies have no tedious job to do on a suspect who confesses to a crime. Dino Melaye has openly confessed that he hacked into the back end of INEC. Melaye should be arrested and prosecuted for cybercrime.”
Melaye, in a recent statement, had claimed that he had access to the back-end server of INEC and that he was aware of the results of the Kogi State governorship election before they were officially announced.
The APC has dismissed Melaye’s claims as baseless and an attempt to discredit the governorship election.
The party has called on the security agencies to investigate Melaye’s allegations and bring him to justice if found guilty.
