Gunmen abduct 13 passengers on Benue Links bus
Gunmen have reportedly abducted 13 passengers who were traveling in a Benue State-owned transport company vehicle, Benue Links, along the deteriorating Naka road of the state.
The attack took place as the passengers were en route from Otukpo to Makurdi on Thursday, with the assailants striking at Tyolaha village in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.
According to Daily Trust, the bus, which initially had 16 occupants, was ambushed by armed men, leading to a harrowing ordeal for the passengers. Only three victims managed to escape the attackers, while the others were taken into the bush.
The Acting General Manager of Benue Links, Comrade Alexander Fanafa, confirmed the incident, stating, “A bus belonging to the company was hijacked by criminals on Naka road.” However, he expressed a lack of detailed information regarding the attack.
This is not the first occurrence of such incidents along the Naka road, as the area has witnessed similar attacks in the past.
