The Director of Servicom at the University of Calabar, Prof. Patrick Egaga, has been abducted by gunmen from his residence at the university staff quarters on Sunday night.
The incident was confirmed by the Cross River State Police Command on Monday.
Cross River State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, stated, “We are working to secure his release.”
The university’s spokesperson, Mr Effiong Eyo, also confirmed the abduction, emphasizing ongoing efforts to secure Prof. Egaga’s release.
The gunmen reportedly entered the university staff quarters through the waterways, abducting Prof. Egaga, a professor at the Department of Special Education.
The assailants also escaped through the same river that connects Calabar to Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state.
