NIS apprehends 30 illegal immigrants in Ogun
The Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, said it has apprehended and publicly exhibited a group of 30 young illegal migrants.
The State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Abosede Olayemisi, disclosed that these illegal migrants, originating from Benin and Congo, were not only in contravention of immigration regulations but were also involved in fraudulent activities aimed at deceiving their fellow migrants.
Olayemisi explained that these individuals were captured in Abeokuta while they were luring their compatriots with false promises of non-existent business opportunities.
She went on to clarify, “They are 30 in number. We apprehended them at their office where they gathered and were doing an illicit business.
“They are defrauding fellow foreign nationals by bringing them in and collecting money from them. They promised them employment in Nigeria.
“After taking money from them, they threw them to the streets. The next thing is to repatriate them to their home countries,” Olayemisi added.
