CAC uncovers 189 illegal companies
The Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Magaji, has uncovered a network of 189 fake companies engaged in fraudulent activities that targeted well-meaning Nigerians.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, Magaji disclosed that the CAC had apprehended a criminal syndicate operating multiple unregistered companies.
He explained, “One of the milestone achievements upon my assumption of duty is our ability to burst a ring of criminals that are creating havoc in the commission.”
Magaji further revealed, “About 189 fake companies have been identified to be used by these groups of persons to secure lands. We discovered that these non-existing entities collaborate with lawyers who claim to be accredited agents with the commission. They collaborate with some staff of the Abuja Geographical Information System, manage their way to make applications at the AGIS, and take priority over existing applications.”
He said with the cooperation of security agents, the suspect responsible for these fraudulent activities had been apprehended and provided valuable information to authorities.
Magaji reaffirmed his commitment to deterring others from engaging in such illicit activities.
