The Taraba State government has announced a series of measures to support National Youth Service Corps members posted to schools in the state including a 50,000 naira allowance and employment benefits.

The state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has given the green light to these measures in response to the notable increase in school enrollment following the Taraba government’s declaration of free basic and secondary education.

According to Zainab Usman Jalingo, the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, these measures are essential to address the surge in new enrollments in primary and secondary schools within the state.

Under these new provisions:

  1. NYSC members serving in Taraba State schools will receive a monthly allowance of N10,000 in addition to their regular allowance.
  2. A one-time payment of N50,000 will be granted as a medical allowance to support the health and well-being of these corps members.
  3. An accommodation allowance of N25,000 per term, totaling N75,000 for three terms, will be provided to assist with housing expenses.

Moreover, the Taraba State government has extended employment opportunities to outstanding Youth Corps members who excel in their service within schools.

Exceptional performers will be offered automatic employment prospects.

Furthermore, the state is taking steps to provide essential educational materials to support students in their pursuit of education.
