Spain-bound US flight makes u-turn after passenger had diarrhoea
A Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Barcelona was forced to turn around on Friday after a passenger had diarrhea in the aircraft
The plane was two hours into the eight-hour journey when it made a U-turn and returned to Atlanta. The incident was confirmed by Delta, which said that the flight was diverted due to a “medical issue.”
A recorded audio transmission between the pilots and air traffic control was shared by an aviation enthusiast on X(formerly Twitter).
“This is a biohazard issue, “We’ve had a passenger who’s had diarrhea all the way through the airplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta.” a pilot was heard telling air-traffic control.
The flight was delayed by two hours before the incident, and it did not arrive in Barcelona until eight hours later than scheduled. Delta said the plane was cleaned before being used for the second journey.
